TCAT Art Round-up - November 2021
Published 29/11/21At The Consortium Academy trust, we value the arts as they encourage self-expression and creativity and can build confidence as well as a sense of individual identity. For our EYFS learners, art can also improve co-ordination and grip strength. Therefore, it is important to highlight the designs our learners create, and the hard work and dedication that has gone into them.

TCAT Commemorates Remembrance 2021
Published 14/11/21Students and staff across The Consortium Academy Trust schools paid their respects to those who lost their lives during special services and activities to commemorate Remembrance Day.
For Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, each school held a two-minute silence in order to remember those who gave their lives in conflicts in the past and the modern era.
Individually, schools played their respects both in the classroom and the community.
At Winifred Holtby Academy, the Key Stage 4 HUB students created acrostic poems and Poppy wreaths which helped to mark the day’s significance.
Howden School created some lovely poppy images during tutor time while reflecting on why the 11th of November is importance to us in 2021.
A number of students from Holderness Academy and Sixth Form College proudly took part in Hedon's commemoration at the parade on Remembrance Sunday.
Cottingham High's Sam and Abbie read the names of the fallen out at Sunday's service at St Mary's Church (Pictured above).

GCSE results - message from the CEO
Published 12/08/21CEO Lizann Lowson's message to students and staff alike was one of acknowledgement and gratitude for the huge effort that had culminated in the results received today:
Well done to all our students. It was wonderful to see so many young people get their results – opening what they have worked incredibly hard for with a sense of relief, delight, excitement…so many emotions after a challenging year. They were not only celebrating their own achievements but also the achievements of their peers. Today they took another step towards their future goals where importantly, there is a wonderful opportunity for each and every one. Thank you to all our teachers and support staff – you have been incredible!

Hessle GCSE celebrations
Published 12/08/21After eighteen months of heartbreaking disruption to their education, our Year 11 students only had one thing on their minds this morning as they arrived to collect their GCSE results; ‘celebration’. Whilst the results collected today were not the outcome of examinations as they might have hoped, that in no way diminishes their success. Every single grade has been hard earned and is thoroughly justified. And was celebrated accordingly. Thankfully the weather joined in the party and the sun shone as most of our Year 11s arrived eagerly and, watched by their teachers, began to open their envelopes. “I have found things tough at times and a lot to deal with without the usual routine of being in school,” said Kieran Longstaff, “but the teachers have been brilliant. I'd like to say thank you to them all.” Those sentiments were echoed by most other students. “All the staff have been amazing during lockdown and have always been on hand offering support” said Emma Book while Sean Appleton Bouskill said, “I have found the past few years up and down but have just got on with it. The support from staff has been fabulous.”
