Holderness Academy & Sixth Form College are delighted with their latest set of GCSE and A-level results. The Class of 2021 have performed exceptionally well as a group while also highlighting some excellent individual performances. All of this being achieved in the most difficult of circumstances.
Year 11 students at Holderness Academy are celebrating their GCSE grades with the school enjoying sustained success across the board, including both core and vocational subjects. Our learners should be very proud of their hard work, resilience and dedication to their studies and richly deserve their success.
Many of our students have shown some remarkable individual performances. Dylan Chelu, Katie Palmer, Abigail Jamieson, Rebecca Hodgson and Sophie Crooks were amongst our top performers achieving 11 GCSEs each at a grade 8 or above.
Sixth Form learners at Holderness Academy are celebrating their A Level grades after two challenging years. The students’ hard work, resilience and dedication to their studies has resulted in some excellent subject and individual results.
Notably, Thomas Stephenson achieved five A* grades at A-level as well as an A* in his EPQ and will read Computer Science at Durham University.
James Wilson achieved four A* grades and will go on to read Physics at Durham University.
Ethan Gollings has achieved three A* grades and an A grade at A level as well as an A* in his EPQ and will be reading Mathematics at Durham University.
Mia Barlow has achieved three A* grades and an A grade at A level and will read Law at the University of York.
Excellent individual performances were also seen by Madelaine Stannard with three A* grades at A level and she will read Zoology at the University of York.
Rileigh Grantham achieved two A* grades and an A grade at A-level as well as an A grade in her EPQ and will take up her place to study Medicine at Hull York Medical School.
Lily Stocken achieved three A grades and one A* grade at A level and will read Biochemistry at the University of Nottingham.
As the Sixth Form is inclusive in nature, many students had followed a mixed programme of A-levels and Vocational courses. Lani Johnson being an example of this as she achieved a Distinction grade in her BTEC, and an A grade in her Applied A level with a further two B grades at A level and will follow an Art and Design programme at Hull College.
While many students progress directly to university, others have secured employment and apprenticeships. We congratulate Louise Pearson who has followed her career aspiration in becoming an Apprentice Financial Case Handler.
These results are indicative of how hard the students and staff have worked this year and highlight a consistently high level of individual student performance over seven years at Holderness Academy and Sixth Form College. We are enormously proud of our students who continue to achieve results that have seen every student who applied for university achieve a place. The Sixth Form has a diverse range of students across all abilities who are moving into further study, high level apprenticeships and employment. They deserve to be pleased with these excellent achievements.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
